The "Energy Industry" is a catch-all term for
every industry involved with the production and sale
of energy, beginning with fuel extraction, and including
manufacturing,
refinement, and distribution. Fuel is vitally important
to modern society, and the energy industry is crucial to
the infrastructure of most countries.
Specifically, the Energy Industry comprises the
following Source Industries:
• The Nuclear Power Industry
• The Coal Industry
• The Petroleum Industry, which includes oil companies,
refiners, fuel transport, and even gas stations.
• The Gas Industry (which is not the petroleum industry),
which includes natural and coal gas extraction and distribution.
• The Renewable Energy Industry, comprising alternative
energy and sustainable energy companies, like those who
generate and distribute hydroelectric, wind, and solar power.
This also includes development and sale of alternative fuels.
• The Electrical Power Industry, which includes electricity
generation and power distribution. This is an all inclusive
Industry encompassing all of the Source Industries.
The energy industry is facing a supremely difficult balancing
act as they struggle to continue to make money while having
to consider environmental factors that require cost output.
Reliance on foreign resources has made parts of the industry
subject to the whims of others. Green alternatives to traditional
fuels are not yet efficient or cheap enough to entirely
replace the old standards.
